SPECIAL ABILITIES

Constrict (Ex)

As a swift action, a salamander can transfer a target grappled by its tail slap into its coils and crush their body. This deals 1d8+11B&F damage to the grabbed target, who must also make a DC 14 Fortitude save or lose 1d4 rounds of holding their breath to avoid suffocating.

Heat (Ex)

A salamander generates so much heat that its mere touch deals 1d8+6F damage. A salamander’s metallic weapons also conduct this heat.

ECOLOGY

Environment any (Plane of Fire)
Organization solitary, pair, or cluster (3-5)

Salamanders are serpentine creatures from the Plane of Fire. They are wicked and cruel, but also well known for their expert craftsmanship for weapons and armor.

As such, they are sought out by devils, efreet, and other evil beings to commission powerful weapons for their armies.

Salamanders love to dwell within fiery places, such as flaming pits or lava pools. They tolerate cooler places, but cannot abide the cold. The heat from a salamander’s body transfers to any metallic weapons it carries, leaving their enemies burnt after any combat.

The lair of a salamander is always considered to be Extreme Heat. They can tolerate being in placed of lower temperatures, but only when forced; and they are even more disagreeable than normal when in such cooler areas.
