Bees, wasps, and hornets are all flying insects related to ants. Similar to ants, they are nesting insects who have a strong sense of community and are highly territorial. Bees tend to be non-aggressive unless provoked or their hive is in immediate danger. As the only defense a bee has is to sting its target – and the bee dies if its stinger is used – bees tend to be loath to attack unless the danger is immediate.

Many are afraid of these insects due to their painful and venomous stings. The sting of these creatures varies in strength and pain, but most stings are not lethal unless one is allergic to the venom.

Bees are known for making wax and honey for their nests, which are also used by humanoids as food. They feed on nectar and pollen collected from plants and flowers. They also serve a dual function of pollinating flowers as they travel from one to the other.

Although some bees tend to be solitary, most bees operate out of a hive colony which is controlled by a queen. The queen lays eggs while all the others – called drones – collect food and protect the hive.
