SPECIAL ABILITIES

Animate Trees (Su)

Once per day, a treant can animate and control one or two trees within 180 feet.

It takes a full-round for a tree to uproot itself, after which it moves at a speed of 10 feet and fights as a treant (although it lacks the treant’s animation and hurl debris abilities), gaining the treant’s vulnerability to fire. If the treant that animates it terminates the animation, moves out of range, or is incapacitated, the tree immediately takes root wherever it is and returns to its normal state.

False Appearance (Ex)

While a treant remains motionless, it is indistinguishable from a normal tree.

Hurl Debris (Ex)

The mighty strength of a treant allows it to turn nearly anything into a ranged weapon.

A treant is assumed to have such debris available (either loose or readily torn from the environment without requiring an extra action) unless the GM rules otherwise. Hurled debris has a range increment equal to the treant’s Strength modifier × 5 feet. Such attacks also create difficult terrain in a 5-foot-radius area around the target, or a 10-foot-radius area for Huge and larger treants.

Siege Monster (Ex)

The treant deals double damage to objects and structures.

Treespeech (Ex)

A treant has the ability to converse with plants, and most plants greet them with an attitude of friendly or helpful.

ECOLOGY

Environment any forest
Organization solitary or grove (2-7)

Treants are considered to be the guardians of the forests.

They appear to be animated trees, but are in fact an ancient race of elemental creatures that have a link to the natural world. Treants form close associations with xenodruids and other woodland protectors to defend against those who would despoil their forests.

The average treant is 30 feet tall and weighs 4,500 pounds (450 bulk). They tend to resemble trees that are native to their woodland homes.
