Centaurs are creatures combining the traits of humans and horses. They have the torso of a human joined at the waist to a horse’s withers, where the horse’s neck would be. A centaur is about 7 feet tall and weighs as much as 2,000 pounds (200 bulk).

Each tribe of centaurs has a distinctive horse coloration based on its regional location in the world.

Most centaurs have horse bodies of black, brown, and shades of red. But zebra-striped centaurs are not unheard of, nor are others of other equine types.

The origins of centaurs are many and varied, just as are those of the humans. Some centaurs claim to be given life by the gods themselves and consider themselves to be a “divine race.” Other centaurs claim to be a sylvan race who embody nature and the untamed wild. The origin stories vary from world to world.

The personalities of centaurs are as varied as humans. Some are kind and wise. Others are crude, prone to fighting, carousing, and kidnapping attractive sentient beings for their own debased desires. Centaurs prefer to live in plains and light forests.

Cyber-centaurs are a unique species of centaur. Their world used to be a beautiful planet of endless plains and light woodlands; spotted by giant lakes. During the last century, their homeworld was invaded by an army of frost giants attempting to plunder the world for its vast riches. Using an artifact called the Cocytus Wake, the frost giant raiders spread a supernatural cold across the planet. The unnatural ice, mixed with the normally temperate climate of the planet created a mist that spawned otherworldly horrors from the hellish realm of Cocytus. Devils and the undead souls of the damned now roam the planet; hidden in the mists.

Although they defeated the giant invaders, their world was forever altered. To adapt to this new world, the centaurs replaced their withers with cybernetic augmentations. Their tundra rangers seek out derelict starships left behind by the frost giants in the hopes of discovering a means to reverse the endless winter now afflicting their home world. Given the recent invasion, the cyber-centaurs are wary of strangers on their world. However, those that prove themselves to the cyber-centaurs find they have new lifelong friends.
