Tigers are natural jungle cats that are native to both warm and cold forests of the world. They are distinguished from other great cats by their orange and black stripes. Also, unlike other great cats, tigers love the water. Their territories are often centered around or near a large body of water, such as a river or lake.

These great cats stand more than 3 feet tall at the shoulder and are about 9 feet long. They weigh from 400 to 600 pounds (40 to 60 bulk).
