Bears are identified by having large bodies, stocky legs, long noses, and shaggy hair. They have large, nonretractable claws and a small tail.

The bear detailed here is a brown bear, based on the American Grizzly. Brown bears come in various sizes and can attain truly massive dimensions. The Alaskan Kodiak is one of the largest of all.
