A megaprimatus’s movement is not impeded by undergrowth, trees, rubble, and similar difficult terrain; by Medium or smaller creatures; or by allies of any size. A megaprimatus can attempt a combat maneuver to overrun a Gargantuan or smaller opponent as a swift action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

Mangle (Ex)

If the megaprimatus hits the same target with two slam attacks in one round, the target is flatfooted and takes a -20 foot penalty to all movement speeds until the end of its next turn.

ECOLOGY

Environment warm forests, hills, or mountains
Organization solitary or pair

Apes are the largest of the primates. An adult male ape is 5-1/2 to 6 feet tall and weighs 300 to 400 pounds (30 to 40 bulk). These animals are heavily-muscled and incredibly strong. Their bones are also very dense.

While this makes it unlikely they will break a bone, the density also prevents apes from swimming.

Some apes move about by knuckle-walking. They tend to put on violent displays of aggression to warn away intruders to their territory. They will only attack if they are truly threatened, but will usually give chase to those who run away from their aggressive displays.

The highly-territorial megaprimatus is the apex predator of its home. These monsters appear to be similar to apes of gigantic size. Like their smaller ape cousins, the megaprimatus will put on an intimidation display become charging in to the attack. Once engaged in combat, the beast is relentless; its enemy must either flee or die.

Humanoids that show deference to the megaprimatus can live beside the giant beast in peace. The ape will chase off most other predators that will threaten the small people. Those who take advantage of the megaprimatus’ protection find it is best to leave offerings of food to appease the ape’s appetite.
