Paralytic Tentacles (Ex)

A chuul can transfer a grappled victim from a claw to its tentacles as a move action. The tentacles grapple with the same strength as the claw but deal no damage, instead exuding a paralytic secretion. Anyone held in the tentacles must succeed on a DC 15 Fortitude save each round on the chuul’s turn or be paralyzed for 6 rounds. While held in the tentacles, paralyzed or not, a victim automatically takes 1d8+12 points of piercing damage each round from the creature’s mandibles.

ECOLOGY

Environment temperate swamps
Organization solitary, pair, or pack (3-6)

Chuul are intelligent, lobster-like predators that lurk in shallow pools and cisterns; waiting in ambush to attack unwary prey. Although excellent swimmers, chuul prefer to attack land-bound creatures. Once the chuul have grabbed their prey in their pincers, they drag the unfortunate victim into the water where the chuul has the advantage; paralyzing the prey with its tentacles before beginning to feed on the unfortunate creature while it is still alive.

A chuul appears to be a crustacean-like monster with a tentacle-filled mouth and massive pincers. It stands 8 feet tall and weighs 650 pounds (65 bulk).
